Currently, Ukraine should not focus on bitcoin legislative regulation, according to Artem Afian, an attorney, managing partner at Juscutum, and BitFury representative in Ukraine. He shared such an opinion at the ForkLog Debate meeting held yesterday in Kiev.
The attorney believes that the attitude of Ukrainian officials is too localized to regulate cryptocurrencies. Besides, a wait-and-see approach to bitcoin is typical not only for Ukraine but also for the majority of states, says Afian.
“The National Bank has admitted that bitcoin exists, and there is nothing more to wait from the regulator,” the attorney added.
This viewpoint was supported by Sergey Fedotov, one of founders of Ukraine-based Attic Lab fintech company. According to him, any Ukraine’s regulation will be equivalent to the prohibition. Thus, legislators had better not touch upon this subject.
At the same time, Artem Afian says that Govtech blockchain-based projects can become successful.
Soon, one will implement several pilot projects related with registers and SETAM (distrained property online auction system). Decisions at government level will be made based on the results of such projects, BitFury representative informs.
